HOW CAN YOU BE PREPARED?

.Display your house number. Make sure that emergency workers can SEE your house number from the roadway. Often house numbers are not clearly marked, or are hidden behind bushes. Make sure the numbers have good contrast such as white on black or dark blue, and reflective is good. Display your house number on the curb or on BOTH sides of your mail box..

.Make sure your children know how to call for help. Educate and practice with them on calling 911. Make sure they understand when to call 911 and when not to; its not a game. Make sure they know the house number. Often mailing addresses and physical addresses are different.

.Make sure EMS workers have adequate access to all rooms of the house. Remove unnecessary furniture or obstacles that may present a problem for rescuers. Move ill or bed ridden family members to bedrooms near an entrance to the house.

.Change your smoke detector batteries when you change your clocks for day light savings time or standard time.
